The award winning contemporary music project New Sound China UK produces cutting edge contemporary works with Chinese instrumentation. At its heart, this project is a musical collaboration between international Chinese virtuosos, such as Cheng Yu (pipa) and Wang Xiao (erhu) from Europe's leading traditional Chinese orchestra - the UK Chinese Ensemble - prolific British composers Gabriel Prokofiev and Effy Efthymiou. Chi-Ling Lok is the Founder and Director of New Sound China UK.

New Sound China UK has produced packed concerts in leading venues, such as in Kings Place, London, and Bridgewater Hall, Manchester, which was featured by BBC Radio Manchester. New Sound China UK was featured by BBC Radio Manchester, Resonance FM, Spectrum Radio, Songlines, UK Chinese Journal, UK Chinese Times and other UK and UK Chinese media channels. New Sound China UK is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through the Arts Council England.
